Networking Opportunities:

LinkedIn helps professionals connect with other professionals from the same industry and other industries, leading to great networking, business, and job opportunities.

Benefits of Networking on LinkedIn:

  • It helps to find and connect with industry experts.
  • It helps to find and connect with mentors.

Key Point: Networking is not about asking for the job instead it is about building great relationships with other experts

Job Search Features

LinkedIn had a dedicated Job search section in his application which helps in finding the right openings easily. I would also like to mention about “Profile Photo Frame” feature which also helps you to find people who are hiring and also helps recruiters to find you. In LinkedIn, there are 2 frames only.

Open to Work

OPEN TO WORK: if you are looking for a job you can simply use it as a frame for your profile so the connection, recruiter, or founder passing by your profile would know that you are looking for a job change and maybe they share an opportunity with you.

Hiring

HIRING: if you are hiring for any role you can put this frame on the profile so the candidates passing by your profile will know that you are hiring without diving into the profile.

Showcasing Your Skills and Endorsements

As we know there is a section in our LinkedIn profile where we showcase our skills but there is an Endorsement feature that is a reference kind of thing for the recruiter or hiring manager who is diving into your profile the more  Endorsements or appreciation you have the more boost you gets in credibility.

Tips to Optimize Skill section:

  • List relevant skills as per your job designation
  • Take the help from LinkedIn skill assessment
  • Ask your connections from the Endorsements

Building Credibility with Recommendations :

Recommendations on LinkedIn are like testimonial posts from the people you have worked with (e.g., Clients, Managers, Colleagues, etc). These recommendations are social proof of your abilities.

How to get a Recommendation :

Ask your Clients, Managers, or Colleagues to write a positive post on LinkedIn about their working experience with you.

  • Always be very specific about what you would like them to mention about you.
  • Always offer to write recommendations in return so there will be proper efforts from both sides in terms of the LinkedIn algorithm.

Staying Updated with Industry Trends

LinkedIn is a good platform to keep yourself updated about the industry. Here are several methods that I use.

  • Following the company profile
  • Following the leaders of the companies of your industry
  • Read articles and repost them in your networks which starts your conversation with your connection.
  • Participate in discussions and also share your point of view.

Connecting with Recruiters :

Recruiters also use LinkedIn to find the perfect candidate for their job openings and make their pipeline stronger. Building an optimized profile increases your visibility. There are several steps you have to follow to attract a recruiter.

  • Keep posting on LinkedIn about your industry.
  • Always use relevant keywords in your profile.
  • Put the “Open to work” frame on the profile.
  • Engage with recruiter posts and build connections.

Tips: Don’t be afraid to reach out to recruiters and ask for openings but be polite and professional.
